Anti-wrinkle treatment should not be a standard set of injections copied from one face to the next.
Your forehead, eyebrows, eyes and lower face all work together. Treating one muscle can change the way another muscle moves. It can also affect brow position, expression and balance. That is why assessment matters.
Dr Mahmoon Rashid leads injectable treatments at Skinfinity. He qualified as a doctor from the University of Leeds in 2010, has worked as a GP since 2015 and has practised in medical aesthetics since 2020.
During your consultation, Dr Mahmoon will assess:
You will get honest advice. If treatment is not right for you, we will say so. If another option would suit you better, we will explain why.
Anti-wrinkle injections use a prescription-only medicine to temporarily reduce movement in selected facial muscles. This can soften lines caused by repeated expression, including forehead lines, frown lines and crow’s feet.
The aim is not to wipe out every line or freeze your face. A careful treatment plan can soften stronger expressions while helping you still look like yourself.
Prescription medicine is only provided when it is considered medically suitable following your consultation.
Dynamic lines appear when your face moves. Forehead lines when you raise your eyebrows. Crow’s feet when you smile.
Static lines are visible when your face is relaxed. They can be linked to repeated movement, collagen loss, sun exposure, skin quality and changes in facial volume.
Anti-wrinkle treatment mainly targets muscle movement. Deeper static lines may need a longer-term skin or facial rejuvenation plan.
Your treatment plan is based on your anatomy, not a standard package.
Horizontal forehead lines appear when the forehead muscle lifts the eyebrows.
The forehead needs careful assessment. Treating it too heavily can make the eyebrows feel or appear lower. Dr Mahmoon will assess your natural brow position and muscle strength before recommending treatment.
Vertical lines between the eyebrows can become more noticeable when you concentrate, squint or frown.
Treatment may help soften these lines and reduce the appearance of a tense, cross or tired expression while still allowing natural movement.
Crow’s feet are the lines that appear around the outer corners of the eyes when you smile.
Treatment can soften stronger lines while keeping the natural movement that gives your smile its character.
Selected muscles around the eyebrows may be treated to create a subtle change in brow position.
This is not a surgical brow lift. The amount of lift that can be achieved is usually modest. Suitability depends on your forehead movement, eyebrow position and eyelid anatomy.
Bunny lines appear at the sides or upper part of the nose when you smile or scrunch your nose.
They can sometimes become more noticeable after upper-face treatment. This is one reason we assess the whole face rather than treating each area in isolation.
A gummy smile is where more of the upper gum shows when you smile.
In suitable patients, reducing the movement of specific muscles may help create a more balanced smile. Careful dosing is important because the muscles around the mouth also affect speech, eating and facial expression.
A lip flip is designed to gently reduce the inward pull of the upper lip when smiling.
It does not add volume in the way dermal filler does. The result is usually subtle and may not be suitable for patients who already have difficulty with lip movement or oral function.
Strong muscles at the corners of the mouth can contribute to a downturned or unhappy-looking expression.
Treatment may be considered to soften this downward pull in suitable patients.
An overactive chin muscle can create a dimpled, pebbled or uneven appearance.
Carefully placed treatment may help the chin appear smoother when the muscle contracts.
The masseter muscles sit at the sides of the jaw. They are used when chewing and clenching.
Treatment may be considered where enlarged or overactive masseter muscles are affecting facial shape. Anyone experiencing jaw pain, headaches, dental symptoms or difficulty chewing may need further medical or dental assessment.
Prominent neck bands and downward muscle pull can sometimes affect the definition of the lower face and jawline.
A full lower-face and neck assessment is needed before deciding whether treatment is appropriate.
Some advanced treatment areas may fall outside a medicine’s licensed cosmetic indications. If this applies, Dr Mahmoon will explain it clearly during your consultation.
We start by talking through your concerns, medical history, current medication, previous aesthetic treatments and the outcome you would like.
There is no pressure to go ahead with treatment.
You will be asked to make different expressions so Dr Mahmoon can assess how your facial muscles work together.
Clinical photographs may be taken with your consent to support treatment planning and follow-up.
Dr Mahmoon will explain:
Where prescription treatment is considered clinically appropriate, small injections are placed into selected muscles using a fine needle.
The treatment itself normally takes around 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the number and complexity of areas being treated.
You will receive clear aftercare instructions and information about when to contact the clinic.
Your result develops gradually. It does not appear immediately. Any review should take place once the treatment has had enough time to settle.
Most patients begin to notice a change within approximately three to five days.
The result normally continues to develop over the following days and is usually assessed at around two weeks.
One side of the face may respond slightly faster than the other while the result is developing. This does not necessarily mean the final result will be uneven.
Results commonly last around three to four months, although this varies between patients.
How long your result lasts can be influenced by:
Movement gradually returns as the effects wear off. Maintenance treatment should only be provided at clinically appropriate intervals.
Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
That depends on your face, your treatment plan and your preference.
Our aim is to soften stronger lines without automatically removing every expression. Some patients want a very subtle result with plenty of movement. Others want a stronger reduction in specific lines.
During your consultation, we will discuss what you want and explain what can be achieved safely. Dose and placement are planned around your facial anatomy, not a one-size-fits-all template.
Upper-face treatment:
Advanced facial areas:
An “area” usually refers to one of the common upper-face areas, such as forehead lines, frown lines or crow’s feet.
Your clinician will confirm which areas are appropriate and provide the full cost before treatment.
Advanced areas are assessed and priced separately from upper-face packages.
All prescription treatments carry potential risks and side effects.
Common temporary effects can include:
Less common risks can include:
Rare but potentially serious complications can occur. Seek urgent medical advice if you develop difficulty swallowing, slurred speech, increasing muscle weakness or breathing difficulties following treatment.
The specific risks depend on the medicine used, the dose and the treatment area. These will be discussed properly before you decide whether to proceed.
You will be given aftercare based on the area treated and your individual medical needs.
You may be advised to temporarily avoid:
Follow the instructions provided by your clinician rather than relying on general advice found online.

Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable for everyone.
Treatment may not be appropriate if you:
This is not a complete list. Your suitability will be assessed during your medical consultation.
Anti-wrinkle treatment can be suitable for men who want to soften forehead lines, frown lines or crow’s feet.
Male facial muscles are often stronger and may need a different dose or treatment pattern. The plan should still be based on individual facial movement, not gender alone.
Dr Mahmoon will discuss whether you want very subtle softening or a stronger reduction in particular lines.
Injectable treatments are led by Dr Mahmoon Rashid, a Leeds-trained doctor and experienced GP who has practised in medical aesthetics since 2020.
Skinfinity is based within LivingCare Group Private Hospital at Thorpe Park, Leeds, providing treatment in a discreet medical environment.
Prescription treatment is not supplied simply because a patient asks for it. Your health, facial anatomy and suitability must be assessed first.
Our focus is on helping you look refreshed, not noticeably “done”.
You will receive honest information about expected results, limitations, possible complications and what to do after treatment.
Thorpe Park is easily accessible from East Leeds and the wider West Yorkshire area, including Cross Gates, Colton, Garforth, Seacroft and surrounding communities.

There is no correct age to start. The right time is when a line you dislike has begun to stay visible after your face has relaxed, and that happens at different ages for different people. Some patients in their late twenties have a frown line that no longer disappears, while others reach their forties with none at all. In your consultation I look at how your muscles move rather than at your date of birth, and if I do not think treatment would give you a worthwhile result yet, I will tell you so.
Dr Mahmoon will explain why treatment is not recommended and discuss other suitable options where appropriate. We would rather advise against treatment than provide something unlikely to be safe or beneficial.
They are established medical treatments, but they are not risk-free. Choosing an appropriately qualified medical practitioner, attending a proper consultation and understanding the potential side effects are important parts of making an informed decision.
This depends on your medical suitability, the treatment being considered and whether an appropriate prescribing assessment has been completed. There is no pressure to proceed on the same day.
Yes. Treatment can be suitable for men, although stronger facial muscles may require a different approach. The treatment plan is based on individual anatomy and movement.
Sometimes, but not always. The forehead lifts the eyebrows, so treating it without assessing the frown muscles and natural brow position can cause unwanted heaviness. Dr Mahmoon will assess the whole upper face first.
That is not our aim. Treatment is planned around your facial movement and preferred outcome. We usually aim to soften stronger lines while maintaining appropriate facial expression.
At Skinfinity, your safety is our top priority, and while anti-wrinkle injections are widely regarded as safe, it’s important to be aware of potential side effects and risks, however rare they may be. The most common side effects are temporary and mild, such as slight redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. Some clients may experience a mild headache or a feeling of tightness in the treated area. During your consultation, we’ll always discuss these risks with you and make sure you’re fully informed before proceeding.
Immediately after your anti-wrinkle treatment, you can expect a few small red bumps or slight swelling at the injection sites—this is completely normal and usually settles within 15–30 minutes. Some clients might notice mild bruising or a slight headache, but these effects are temporary and tend to resolve quickly. You’ll be able to go about your day as normal with no downtime, though we’ll advise you to avoid touching your face, applying makeup, intense exercise, or lying down flat for a few hours post-treatment. Full results will gradually appear over the next 3 to 14 days, and we’re always here to answer any questions or check in on your progress if needed.
Most clients find the injections to be very tolerable with minimal discomfort. The treatment involves using a fine needle and takes just a few minutes—many describe the sensation as a quick scratch or tiny pinch. If you're particularly sensitive or nervous, we can apply a numbing cream beforehand to make you more comfortable.
The results of anti-wrinkle injections typically last around 3 to 4 months, though this can vary slightly from person to person. Factors such as your metabolism, lifestyle, and how your muscles respond to the treatment can all play a role. With regular treatments, you may notice results lasting a little longer over time, as the muscles gradually become trained to relax. We’ll guide you on the best timing for top-ups to maintain a natural, refreshed look without overdoing it.
At Skinfinity, your safety and confidence are our top priorities. Anti-wrinkle injections are a well-established and medically approved treatment with an excellent safety record when administered by experienced professionals—like our medically qualified team. We use only regulated, high-quality products and follow strict clinical protocols to ensure your treatment is both safe and effective. While mild side effects such as slight bruising or swelling can occasionally occur, serious complications are extremely rare. Before any treatment, we carry out a full consultation to assess your suitability, discuss any potential risks, and ensure you feel fully informed and comfortable. You’ll never be rushed—we believe in a personalised, patient-first approach every step of the way.
