Hair Transplant Surgery - everything you need to know

Male Pattern Baldness affects 30% of men in their 30s, and over 50% of men in their 50s. Hair transplant surgery has never been more popular and is on the rise with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Robbie Williams and Backstreet Boy AJ McLean revealing they have had the surgery.

The revelations from such celebrities, along with the advancement in surgical methods for hair transplants have helped to break down the stigma that might once have been associated with hair loss surgery – for both men and women.

But what does the procedure actually involve, how long does it take to recover? And what is the recovery like? Here, we explain everything you need to know...

What happens during hair transplant surgery?

Hair transplant surgery is the restoration of a fuller, natural-looking head of hair using the client’s own follicles. Our highly skilled hair transplant surgeon takes healthy hair follicles and transplants them into thinning areas, resulting in a dramatically improved cosmetic appearance.

Depending on the size of the area of the scalp to be treated, the hair follicles will either be harvested using FUE (follicular unit extraction, individual hairs plucked from the scalp one by one) or FUT (follicular unit transplantation, or “strip” technique).

Who will be performing my surgery?

The Skinfinity Clinic hair restoration expert, Dr Donato Zizi, one of Europe’s foremost doctors in this area who comes to the UK from Italy especially to treat our patients. He has been performing hair restoration treatments in the UK and on the continent for more than ten years. He has performed over 2,000 hair transplants in this time and will ensure that you have a natural-looking hairline that is correct for the shape of your face and your age.

What are the benefits of hair transplant surgery?

A hair transplant is undertaken as a minor day-case surgical appointment. The process only deals with the surface layers of the skin, the epidermis and dermis, and is carried out under a local anaesthetic. This means no overnight stay in hospital is needed, and you can return to the comfort of your own home the same day.

How much does it cost?

Prices start from just £2,500. The price depends on the number of grafts needed.

We also offer 0% finance on all our treatments.
