Hair transplant surgery is the restoration of a fuller, natural-looking head of hair using the client’s own follicles. Hair follicles are removed from parts of the scalp where the hair density is high, and transplanted into the areas where the hair is thin or missing altogether. Once placed, it requires only normal washing, grooming, cutting, etc.
Male Pattern Baldness affects 30% of men in their 30s, and over 50% of men in their 50s, with Female Pattern Baldness affecting around 15% of women.

How does the hair transplant treatment work:
A hair transplant is undertaken as a minor day case surgical appointment. The process only deals with the surface layers of the skin, the epidermis and dermis, and is carried out under a strong local anaesthetic. The procedure is only slightly uncomfortable and carries less risk than a general anaesthetic procedure.
Every single hair follicle on the human head is genetically programmed either to become sensitive to the male hormone, causing it to die after a time, or to become permanently immune to the withering effects of the male hormone, therefore lasting a lifetime.
These lifetime hairs are found in high density in nearly all men, even those who are severely bald. They are often located in a horseshoe-shaped region at the back of the head called the “donor area”. The principle of transplanting hair is to “harvest” the permanent hairs from the donor area and relocate them to the thinning or bald areas elsewhere on the scalp or hairline.
What happens during hair transplant surgery:
Our highly skilled hair transplant surgeon takes healthy hair follicles and transplants them into thinning areas, resulting in a dramatically improved cosmetic appearance.
Depending on the size of the area of the scalp to be treated, the hair follicles will either be harvested using FUE (follicular unit extraction, individual hairs plucked from the scalp one by one) or FUT (follicular unit transplantation, or “strip” technique).

The hair restoration surgery is carried out under local anaesthetic. This means no overnight stay in hospital is needed, and you can return to the comfort of your own home the same day. The treatment area is anaesthetised and prepared to receive the grafts. A high level of skill and training is needed to ensure the hairs are inserted into the treatment area in such a way as to mimic the natural pattern of hair growth.
