Dealing with acne scarred skin:
Around 1 in 4 adults in the UK suffer from acne on the face, chest, shoulders and back. Many will be left with scarring, which can severely affect confidence. Make up often can't cover the scars, and some people feel very self conscious about undressing in front of others.

Acne scars can be very difficult to treat, and whilst procedures such a chemical peels or microdermabrasion can have some good results, deeper scarring often needs more specialist treatments.
At Skinfinity, our expert team use a combination of highly effective treatments to improve the appearance of even severe acne scarring.

As with all treatments at Skinfinity, you will only ever be seen by our highly trained, experienced medical team.
What does acne scar treatment involve:
There are three main types of acne scarring:
1. Box car
2. Rolling
3. Ice pick

The first two types are the most common, and most people have a combination of both. No single treatment will work on every individual person, so combination therapy is needed using some or all of the following techniques:

-
PRP: A sample of your blood is taken from a vein in your arm, then spun in a centrifuge for 10 minutes. A part of your blood, called platelets, contains lots of chemicals that are needed to promote healing and production of collagen. The first stage of treatment involved injecting these platelets into the skin.
-
Dermapen: This treatment, also know as microneedling, uses tiny needles to stimulate the skin to produce new collagen. This plumps out the skin, reducing the appearance of the scars.
-
Subcision: Some scars are stuck down to the deeper layers of the skin, meaning that they don't respond as well to the Dermapen. A special needle is used to release the scars from the deeper layers, helping to lift them up. (Please note this treatment is not currently available from Skinfinity Clinic).
-
TCA cross: the final stage of treatment involves applying a tiny amount of a special chemical to the base of the deeper scars. This chemical stimulates collagen production within the indented scar, which helps to fill in the holes. The indented scar then becomes flat , which is easier to disguise. (Please note this treatment is not currently available from Skinfinity Clinic).
-
Intracel RF Microneedling: Intracel is the latest in a number of new treatments at Skinfinity. It combines microneedling and radiofrequency to cause a localised breakdown of scar tissue and regenerates the surface of the skin - Read more about Intracel here.
